Jack was one of 1,300,000 students take the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test in October of his Junior year. After additional testing and various qualifying requirements only 15,000 students advance to the finalists!

Announcements of rewarded scholarships will begin in March, with Merit Scholar designees being announced April thru July.
